What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your initial evaluation at OncoPelvic PT is 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of your concerns. Dr. Alex will take a thorough history of your diagnosis, medical background, and current symptoms, discuss your goals for treatment, and perform a comprehensive physical examination. This typically includes measurement of the affected area(s), assessment of tissue quality and skin health, assessment of your mobility, strength, and range of motion, and a review of your current compression garments or home management routine.
You will leave your first visit with a clear picture of what is going on in your body, why it is happening, and a plan to address it, along with realistic expectations for what treatment can achieve.
Lymphatic Wellness Services
Not all lymphatic care is medically necessary treatment. Some people simply want support for general lymphatic health and wellbeing. OncoPelvic PT offers lymphatic wellness services for individuals who want to feel better, move better, and support their body from the inside out, without a formal diagnosis or medical referral required.
Lymphatic wellness visits may be right for you if you are:
Feeling sluggish, puffy, or heavy not related to a specific medical condition
Recovering from a long flight or extended travel
Looking to support your immune system and overall circulation
Managing general fatigue or fluid retention not related to a medical condition
Interested in lymphatic health as part of a broader wellness routine
At elevated risk for lymphedema and want proactive education and self-care strategies
Please note: Wellness visits are not physical therapy services and are not eligible for insurance reimbursement. They do not include a formal clinical assessment or treatment plan. Please contact us for more information.
Fees and Insurance
OncoPelvic PT is a private-pay, out-of-network (OON) physical therapy practice. We do not bill insurance directly. Choosing this model allows for fully individualized care without insurance restrictions on your treatment plan.
Every session with Dr. Alex is delivered one-on-one in a private setting, in clinic or virtually, so your care fits your life as well as your needs. Appointments are never double booked or rushed, and include secure, direct messaging access between visits to support your progress.
Many patients with commercial PPO insurance plans are able to submit receipts for out-of-network reimbursement, and we provide the documentation you need for that process. HSA and FSA payments are accepted. We are unable to see patients with Medicare or Medicaid as their primary insurance for Physical Therapy services, however, Wellness services are available.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is OncoPelvic PT different from a hospital-based lymphedema clinic?
Hospital-based outpatient clinic settings often involve shared treatment spaces, rushed sessions, time-limited appointments, and care delivered by multiple providers. At OncoPelvic PT, every session is private, unrushed, and delivered entirely by Dr. Alex. Sessions are designed around what you need that day, not a predetermined template.
Do you treat men with lymphedema?
Yes! OncoPelvic PT provides gender-inclusive care for all adults.
Can you treat lymphedema and lipedema via telehealth?
Hands-on manual lymphatic drainage and bandaging require in-person visits. However, telehealth visits are available for education, home program review, compression garment guidance, self-MLD instruction, and follow-up support.
Do I need a referral to be seen for lymphedema?
No referral is required to schedule an evaluation at OncoPelvic PT. Florida is a direct-access state, which means you can begin physical therapy without a physician referral.
However, Florida law limits physical therapy without a referral to 30 consecutive calendar days for any condition not previously assessed by a practitioner of record. After that, if you need to continue care, we'll need a signed plan of care or referral from a physician, advanced practice registered nurse (ARNP), chiropractor, podiatrist, or dentist. You must have a medical provider who provides you either with a referral to PT or who is willing to sign the plan of care.
If your insurance plan requires a referral for OON reimbursement, please ensure your referral is placed before scheduling an appointment.
