Let’s get a couple myths about pelvic health out of the way…
MYTH: You can’t address pelvic health concerns if you aren’t a pelvic health rehab provider
FACT: Any and all rehab providers should be screening for pelvic health conditions! As you'll learn in this course, the vast majority of cancer survivors experience pelvic health concerns related to cancer treatment. If no one is screening or addressing these concerns, it's the patient who suffers.
This course guides you through basic pelvic health anatomy and physiology, common pelvic health conditions, and simple treatment interventions to empower your patients and truly provide comprehensive cancer care.
MYTH: You have to do an internal assessment and treatment to address pelvic health conditions
FACT: Totally false! In "Pelvic Health Foundations for Oncology Rehab Providers" you will learn how to effectively assess the pelvic floor externally - no getting undressed! You'll also learn the indications for when you should refer to a pelvic health rehab provider for a full internal assessment.
MYTH: You can’t help people with pelvic floor issues if you don't feel comfortable talking about bodily functions and intimacy
FACT: Sure, it can be uncomfortable to talk about pooping, peeing, and sex. But at the end of the day, these are Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) that have to be addressed. These are activities that impact people's daily lives. In the "Pelvic Health Foundations for Oncology Rehab Providers", I'll guide you through how to talk about these sensitive topics so you feel confident talking to your patients.
