What you’ll learn in this course

Intro and Module 1: Introduction to Pelvic Cancers
Review the basics of oncology terminology, staging, grading, and tumor characteristics in this module.


Module 2: Pelvic Lymphatics
Gain knowledge about the lymphatic system and pelvic cancer-related lymphedema including topics on risk factors, lymphedema stages, and the gold standard for treating lymphedema. This module includes a video lab that guides you step-by-step how to perform initial hands-on interventions to assist with reducing lymphedema and improving lymphatic flow.


Module 3: Gynecological Cancers
Learn about the epidemiology, early detection, risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and common treatment side effects for gynecological cancers.
Cancers included: Uterine, ovarian, cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers


Module 4: Urogenital Cancers
Learn about the epidemiology, early detection, risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and common treatment side effects for urogenital cancers.
Cancers included: prostate, bladder, kidney, penile, and testicular cancers

 

Module 5: Colorectal Cancers
Learn about the epidemiology, early detection, risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and common treatment side effects for colorectal cancers.
Cancers included: colon, rectal, and anal cancers

 

Module 6: Rehab Examination and Evaluation
In this module, you’ll learn critical questions to include in your subjective exam, how to perform a comprehensive objective examination with consideration for pelvic cancer treatment side effects, how to choose the best patient reported outcome measures for your patients, how to effectively and empathetically communicate prognosis, and how to set SMART goals. This module includes a video lab guiding you through an external pelvic assessment of pelvic floor muscle functioning that you can use with any patient.

 

Module 7: Rehab Interventions
Build your repertoire of interventions to utilize for the specific sequelae of pelvic cancer treatments. Content in this module includes prehabilitation programs for pelvic cancer survivors, comprehensive education topics to discuss with your patients, therapeutic exercise and pelvic floor muscle training prescriptions based on symptoms and pelvic cancer type, effective external and internal manual therapy techniques, and neuromuscular re-education interventions. This module includes 50+ minutes of video labs guiding you step-by-step through hands on manual therapy interventions to use for conditions related to pelvic cancer treatment including reconstruction flaps, scar tissue, radiation fibrosis, and more.

 

Module 8: Clinician Resilience
After completing this module, you will understand burnout and how build your own resilience strategies to protect your well-being and continue to show up for your patients.
